What next For "King" Khan..........?
Where does King Khan go from here? It seems like only yesterday the boy from Bolton gained his reputation from gaining a silver medal in the olympics and from that point onwards media spotlight was on him. Always known for his speed but his punch resistance was always a question mark however. Knockdown numerous times in his career particularly against boxers whom did not possess punching power until his eventual knockout defeat against the hard hitting Colombian Breidis Prescott. One thing worthy of mentioning is Amir Khan's confidence and overlooking opponents when it mattered the most. Mentioning a move to 147 to Talking about an eventual fight with Floyd Mayweather.
A tendency to believe his opponents will be a walk in the park when evidently they earned their position. The Presser for the Danny Garcia fight was a prime example of Khan's overconfidence by promising to knock out a WBC undefeated junior welterweight champion, whom has already had back to back victorys against Kendall Holt and Erik Morales respectively. This overconfidence translated in the ring and like always people witnessed a fast Amir Khan but this time with deadly intentions refusing to back up when appropriate but applying pressure from round 1 and being caught with a devastating left hook. To add insult to injury was Danny Garcia's whom insisted Danny would reign victorious over Khan when many of the boxing world did not give Danny much of a chance.
What next for King Khan?, well......erm......he can drop the king nicname for a start and perhaps fight at domestic level in order to restablish himself. This does essentially mena fighting lower level opposition until he regains his confidence and possibly work on defesive techniques. Talks of retirement are ludacris considering he 25.
Dereck Chisora underdog...........really??
Despite Chisora's misdemeanor outside the ring, he is by no means a pushover (not say the media potrays him as such), however the likelyhood of Chisora beating David Haye should be looked at more closely. Considering he has spent his whole career campaigning at heavyweight with three blemishes so far, infact One would argue that he has establshed himself at Heavyweight better than David Haye, having won at Domestic and European Titles and competed for the heavyweight championship of the world losing a great battle. His style is very physically imposing and reminisces a young Joe Frazier and has an excellent chin. David Haye on the otherhand has spent majority of his career at cruiserweight becoming undisputed world champion in that weight class and becoming heavyweight champion subsequently.
However the route in which he undertook to become champion is somewhat questionable and the level of opposition. Beating Monte Barrett whom ironically lost to Wladimir Klitschko several years before and was clearly out of his prime. This somehow made him a eligible for a world title fight with the intimidating figure Nikolai Valuev but not quite in the ring. In a fight he won via majority decision one thing which is notable in this fight and others particularly at Heavyweight is Mr Haye's workrate which is considerably lower than is conterparts. Sky Sports had Haye lose to Nikolai Valuev considering he is spent majority of the time glaring at his opponent and moving combined with long periods of inactivity.
With the fight night approaching will David Hayes movement be somewhat limited in a smaller ring? The ring size is one factor but what would Haye do when Chisora is still in front of him applying pressure considering Haye has had stamina issues in the past, I guess we would have to wait of see. To conclude contraversy always sells, approximately 20,000 but will it live up to the hype?
Roy Jones Junior improves his record to 56-8-0 40 KO's winning a Split decision victory against Pawel Glazewski 17-1-4 KO's, an opponent whom was undefeated going into the fight. Roy Jones jnr dominated the early part of the fight operating behind the jab more as you may have seen in recent years, but towards the mid rounds onwards it became more competitive. Roy jones was dropped in the 6th round by his opponent which eventually gave Glazewski the extra motivation press Roy numerous times towards the final bell.
The inconsistency of Roy Jones jnr remains a concern for loyal fans, in recent years when Roy has been matched with tougher opposition he has not looked anything more than mediocure. That being said the handspeed is still present but diminished reflexes and footwork has been a major cause for concern a far cry from the man he was 10 years ago who could literally evade punches with his superior reflexes and string a 8 punch combination successfully.
Roy has said recently that he intends to hang his gloves soon which may be a sigh of relief for many loyalists. However would this victory give him a false sense of security and stay in the sport longer? considering he is now eligible for a world title fight. He may even be of the verge of losing his HBO boxing analyst role as there has also been a slur in his speech. What motivates Roy Jones at this point in his career and why tarnish such a great legacy?
Legendary match ups tries to review boxers from any generation and see they match up together
Two legendary fighters Prime for Prime, both known for their impeccable defensive abilities. Pernell Whitaker a Southpaw slick, evasive known simply for slipping punches using his superb athletic ability with brilliant head movement and not giving a steady target to hit on and quite accurate too, very few could imitate his style. In addtion Pernell Whitaker was able to win titles from 4 different weightclasses and made some of the Sports elite like Azuma Nelson, Julio Ceasar Chavez, look like amateurs at times.
Mayweather also known for his defensive ability and arguably one of the greatest Counter Punchers in the sport and very accurate. Loves to use the shoulder to evade punches and to his credit he barley gets hit, if there is one weakness (or if you consider it a weakness), he has quite a low workrate, but it up with his accuracy. Mayweather wins by a Split decision in a highly competitive technical battle.
Manny Pacquiao is the best pound for pound in the sport today with his lightning quick hands and his ability to throw punches from unorthodox angels to his trade mark straight left hand he really has the full package now alot when he started his career . Where he lacks in defence he makes up for it in offence leaving many of his opponenets bewildered and without many answers. The tempo he sets in fights are extremly high and under the tutelage of Freddie Roach he has become even more dangerous with his right hand now.
Now what would happen in a match up between him and "The Hawk", known as Aron Pryor who also fights at a high intensity. Particularly known for sprinting towards his opponent at the beginning of the fight and unleashing damaging blows early leaving like make of his opponents confused , Pryor may have not been the most technically gifted fighter in the world but his workrate was unmatched as he was blessed with great stamina. He may have not the recognition he deserved in the 80's but it was rumoured that the legendary Sugar Ray leornard moved up a weight to welterweight avoid him at junior welterweight. It really is a toss up fight between the two but I fancy Manny Pacquiao unanimous as I belief his punches are a bit more disciplined and would find the target quicker though both guys have flaws it would be an interesting match up
Both highly highly respected in their native land of Puerto Rico and well known for their signature left hook, the question is what will happen if the two met in the ring? Miguel started hes professional career in 2000 and quite notably he has gone on to win 4 world titles in 3 different weight classes. Known early in his career for being a patient and sophisticated brawler with a brilliant left hook when timed with perfection can have devasting effects opponents. In more recents year boxing purist have seen another dimension to his style and that is his ability to box and move. A notable fight was his welterweight grudge match with Shane Mosley where he statiscally out jabbed the Sugar man. Cotto above all is a calculated counter puncher and very good at nullifying his opponents speed. Tito Trnidad well love and respected made his name from his devasting left hook................coming soon.....................
